About competition

Organizer of the competition is „Základní umělecká škola Jana Hanuše, Praha 6“,

in cooperation  with „Klub přátel školy při ZUŠ Jana Hanuše, Praha 6“

This international competition is held every two years in Prague – Czech Republic.

Prof. Karel Patras was a noteworthy Czech harpist and teacher of the 20th century.                       

He studied the harp at the State Conservatory and the Academy of Performing Arts  in Prague. As a student of the conservatory, he was engaged in the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. Patras’ career as a professor started in 1959 at the State Conservatory and later he became also a professor at the Music Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts  in Prague.

The goal of the competition is to promote and popularize harp playing, support of mutual meeting and comparing players’ skills of young harpists.

Competition is designated as one-round, open to students under the age of 26 and of all grades of art schools.
